Next To Normal
Saw Next To Normal today at the Benedum Center. I thought it was really well done. The storyline and music are raw and emotional, and different than anything else that I have personally seen in terms of musicals (and I have not seen that many). I think it was so heart-wrenching because there was no win-win situation, and no clear antagonist - I liked and connected with every character (except for the doctor) and it was hard to watch them all experience their respective low points. It was exciting to see Alice Ripley, her acting was spectacular and her voice beautiful although sometimes I could not understand what she was singing. I thought that the actors for the dad and daughter, Asa Somers and Emma Hunton, did the best job overall. Yay Hooray
Highly recommend it
